Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per fess enhanced Or and Gules, a mullet of six points counterchanged.  Attached above the shield is the crest for the New Jersey Army National Guard and attached below is a Gold scroll inscribed "ACIES IN CAELIS" in Black.

Symbolism
The service of the former organization, the 254th Air Defense Artillery, is indicated by the star which represents an air burst of an artillery shell.  The motto translates to "Battle Line In The Sky."

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 116th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion on 30 January 1956.  It was redesignated for the 254th Artillery Regiment on 2 June 1961.  It was redesignated for the 254th Air Defense Artillery Regiment on 10 July 1972.  The insignia was redesignated for the 254th Regiment with the description and symbolism revised on 6 June 1997.
